by the Students of Room
208During this week we had a
"Jump-a-thon". A Jump-a-thon is when we jump for an hour to raise money for the
American Heart
Association. The American Heart
Association uses the money to help people with heart problems. We learned many
skills for jumping rope. While we were jumping we had oranges. At the end, we
were very hot. We got certificates to award us for helping people with heart
problems. Another exciting thing we
did was in Computer. We were doing our "Read
Around Maine" posters/bookmarks"Read
Around Maine"posters (aka Bookmarks) are when you make a drawing on
the computer and write "Read Around Maine" on them.
Another thing we did is we wrote and
learned about
Leads.
We read a few papers from the Reviser's
Toolbox by Barry
Lane. There was a quote in one that we all enjoyed. It is,
"Leads are magic flashlights that shine
down through a story showing the writer what to put in and what to leave
out," by John
Mcphee.On Thursday we had a
Read-In.
A Read-In
is when people read books to our buddies and
Mr. S reads a lot of books to us. Mr. S read us a book called,
The Wolves in the Walls
by Neil Gaiman. At snack we read books to a
person in our class.
